General & bookings

Do I need an appointment?

Booking ahead is the best way to secure your preferred time. Walk-ins are welcome when we have availability. Fresha shows our live appointment options.

What is the 7-day care promise?

If your gel, Gel X, Builder Gel or SNS chips or lifts within 7 days of your visit, come back and we'll fix it for free. Applies to gel-based services. Please let us know within 7 days and bring your Fresha booking details.

Do your prices include GST?

Yes. All prices on this site are in New Zealand dollars and include GST. Fresha shows the total for your selected services before you confirm.

Where can I see booking and cancellation policies?

Fresha shows our booking terms at checkout. Please review them before confirming. For a custom design quote, contact us first.

Where is the salon, and where do I park?

Find us at 2/18 Scene Lane, Auckland CBD, just behind Britomart Car Park, Quay Street. We have no on-site parking: for appointments under 90 minutes use Woolworths Auckland City (90-minute limit, 2-minute walk); for longer appointments use Britomart Car Park, 88 Quay Street, right behind us ($24 cap evenings and weekends). Britomart station is a 3-minute walk. See the parking map, or call 09 948 2696 if you have trouble finding the entrance.

Can I book two treatments in one visit?

Yes. Add every service you’d like to one Fresha booking — a manicure with a pedicure, or brows with your lash set — and we’ll schedule them together.

Can I have my manicure and pedicure done at the same time?

Yes — two technicians can work on you at once, so you’re finished in about half the time. Because it needs two people rostered, please request it when you book: add a note on Fresha or call us. We’ll confirm the finish time for you.

Who will do my nails?

Every technician at JOIE is senior. Whoever you book, your appointment is looked after by one senior technician from start to finish.

Are your products HEMA-free?

Yes. All of our gels, builder gels and dipping powders are free from HEMA and TPO, which are the ingredients most often linked to allergies and irritation. If you’ve reacted to gel before, tell us and we’ll talk through your options.

Nails

What’s the difference between Gel X and Builder Gel?

Gel X uses full-cover soft gel tips to add length. Builder Gel creates a structured layer over your natural nails and can also be used for extensions. If you’re unsure, call us and we’ll help you decide what to book.

How long does a Gel X or Builder Gel appointment take?

Allow about 60–90 minutes for a new set, and 45–75 minutes for an infill. Detailed nail art adds time — tell us when you book.

How long will my set last?

With normal wear, gel manicures last 2–3 weeks and Gel X, Builder Gel and SNS sets 3–4 weeks before an infill. Daily cuticle oil helps.

Should I book an infill or a new set?

This depends on your existing product and its condition. Let us know what’s currently on your nails and whether you have lifting or damage. If removal is needed, include it in your appointment so we have enough time.

Do you do removal from other salons?

Yes. Add “SNS / Gel X / Builder Gel Removal & Tidy” or “Gel / Shellac Removal & Tidy” to your booking.

How do I book nail art?

Send your inspiration photo to our Instagram before booking, especially for detailed designs. We’ll confirm the appointment time, artist availability and design price. Designs are interpreted by hand, so the final result may vary from a reference photo.

Pedicures

How long does a pedicure take?

About 45–60 minutes for regular or gel pedicures and about 75 minutes for the deluxe jelly spa pedicure.

Can I have a manicure and pedicure at the same time?

Yes. Request it when you book (a note on Fresha or a quick call) so we roster two technicians, and we’ll confirm your finish time.

Do you offer gel toes without the full pedicure?

Yes — “Buff, Shape & Gel / Shellac” for feet is $45 and focuses on colour.

Does the 7-day care promise apply to gel pedicures?

Yes. If your gel toes chip or lift within 7 days, come back and we’ll fix it for free.

Lashes

How long do lash extensions last?

Most clients come back for an infill every 2–3 weeks. With good aftercare, a set lasts 4–6 weeks before it needs replacing.

Will extensions damage my natural lashes?

Not when applied correctly and removed professionally. We isolate each lash and choose a weight your natural lashes can carry.

Classic, hybrid or volume?

If you want a natural, mascara-like look, choose classic. For more fullness, hybrid. For a full, fluffy lash line, volume or wispy. Unsure? Call us and we’ll help.

Can I get a patch test?

Yes. If you have sensitive eyes or have reacted to lash adhesive before, contact us at least 48 hours before your appointment.

Brows & waxing

How long should hair be for waxing?

About 5 mm, or roughly two weeks of growth, so the wax can grip the hair.

Does brow tinting last?

Usually 3–4 weeks on the hair. Tint on skin fades in a few days.

Nail art

How much does nail art cost?

Simple accents start from $5 per nail and French, ombre, cat-eye or chrome from $15. Detailed hand-painted or 3D designs are quoted from your photo before you book.

How much extra time should I allow?

Simple art adds 15–30 minutes; detailed sets can add an hour or more. We confirm this when we quote.

Will my nails look exactly like the photo?

We match the style, colours and placement as closely as we can, but every set is hand-painted on your nail shape, so expect small differences.
